The Origins of Religious Belief

The Origins of Religious Belief

This is Jehovah, the Judeo-Christian God. Did you know Yahweh/Jehovah is a Pagan God? Yahweh is originally an Edomite and Midian Storm and warrior god. Seen as either a minor god or king of the gods by many. There's the theory that Midians introduced Yahweh to Israel though migration around 1200 BC. Between 1200 BC to 1000 BC, Yahweh was adopted in the Canaanite pantheon as one of the children of El (the King of the gods and original God of Israel). Eventually he became a epithet to El to many. Around 1000 BC, El and Yahweh were morphed together into Yahweh, the king of the Israelite pantheon with Asherah as his wife, with the other gods under his command. Thus, became the national god of Israel. Around the 5th century BC with the rise of monotheism, Yahweh became the "one true god".
